Providian sent me a new card! Of all the stupid things I thought they were capable of doing I never in my wildest imagination would have ever guessed that they would send me a new card. Check it out:

I sent Providian a check for $290.00 to settle the account in full. I told them that if they are willing to settle the account with me for a guaranteed amount of $290.00 -vs- an unknown amount (possibly zero) if I were to include this account in a bankruptcy or something then all they have to do is cash the check. Once they cash the check I am PAID (settled) IN FULL.

I spelled it out for “Dennis”. I told him repeatedly what I was going to do. I told him that if Providian didn’t want to settle the account for $290.00 to simply send the money back to me. If they are OK with settling for $290 to just cash the check.

Here is the check prior to sending it on April 28, 2003.

After the June 10 telephone call I cannot fathom how Providian would continue to call me without reversing the settlement by refunding me the $290.00. I am not holding my breath.
